Hydrological and Meteorological Drought Forecasting for the Yesilirmak River Basin, Turkey

Drought is the most dangerous natural disaster. It differs from other disasters in that it occurs insidiously, its effects are revealed gradually, and persists for a long period. has huge, negative on both society ecosystems. In this study, values Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) were used to generate drought estimation models by using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). addition, probability of hydrological was determined SPI predict Streamflow (SDI) with ANN. Also, SDI as meteorological indices, respectively, conjunction Feed Forward (FFNN), ANN models. For purpose, three rainfall flow gauging stations located Yesilirmak River Basin Turkey selected study units. The calculated order create Different forecasting trained tested. spatial distribution precipitation flows Thiessen Method develop prediction model. results generated resulting compared performances analyzed. combination predicted high accuracy but not good predicting drought.
